A life-long learner.

My name is Erin Ax.  I grew up in Evergreen, Colorado and was proud to call the mountains home.  I moved to Massachusetts for college (Smith College, Northampton, MA) and then on to NYC to do life.  While working as an assistant teacher at a school for students on the Autism Spectrum, I knew I needed to learn more about the way the brain works and the brain-behavior relationship.  I moved to Florida for graduate school where my research focused on pediatric health issues and how those impact kids at school. Most of my time was spent studying sleep and the impact of sleep problems on learning and behavior.

Once back in New York, I worked as an independent consultant with schools around academic and behavioral planning and problem solving.  I helped make schools a safe place for students and faculty, promoting a positive sense of belonging, mental wellness and academic achievement in close to 100 schools and districts.  I am a national presenter, former university faculty member, and a life-long learner.

P.S. For those of you who would like to see the credentials:

I hold a BA in Psychology from Smith College and a Ph.D. in School Psychology, area of emphasis Pediatric Health Issues from the University of South Florida.  I am a Nationally Certified School Psychologist and am a Registered Psychotherapist in the state of Colorado. I am trained in Neurofeedback and am just a few clinical hours from my BCIA (Biofeedback Board Certification) a certification that no one in San Miguel County holds.
